January 2012 - Mulalley and Affinity Sutton celebrate 200
upgraded homes
Mulalley and Affinity Sutton celebrated the completion of the
200th home as part of their £14.5 million regenerating programme
on the Leybridge and Newstead estates.
The 200th property belongs to resident, Doreen Waters who was also
celebrating her 90th Birthday. Mulalley helped mark the occasion
by providing Doreen with a hamper, flowers and cake.
Doreen’s home has had new windows installed and a new kitchen and
bathroom - including the first Occupational Health walk in shower
on the estate. Doreen said: ‘I have lived in this property for
the last 42 years and the improvements have made such a difference
to my life. Mulalley have done such a marvellous job, I am over
the moon with the work.
‘Before the work was completed by Mulalley my flat was so cold and
draughty, and being on the 9th floor was also very noisy. The
windows have made such a difference.’
The work on the Leybridge and Newstead estates started in Oct 2010
includes the regeneration of the two estates, comprising of four
tower blocks and 20 low rise blocks and a total of 600 properties.
Works include internals, externals, roof works, windows and
landscaping, and are set to complete in July 2012.
Mike Robbins, Regeneration Manager at Affinity Sutton said: ‘We
are very pleased with the standard of workmanship from the
Mulalley team and are delighted by the positive responses we have
received from the residents.’
Generous contractor Mulalley, have also sponsored two 20ft
Christmas trees with lights for the estate, as well as a free
raffle for residents including prizes of a TV, ipod and child’s
bike.
