On June 2nd the Chief Executive of Watford Community Housing Trust, Tina Barnard, officially started their £66million improvement programme to bring their Residents homes to the Decent Homes standard.
The first properties to receive an upgrade were homes in Croxley View and Queenswood Crescent. The five-year programme will provide new bathrooms and kitchens for all the residents of the Trust.
Watford CHT is a unique resident lead organisation and residents were involved in the programme from the beginning, agreeing the scope of works, helping to select the contractors and then choosing the fixtures and fittings from a range of options. As one of the first residents to benefit from a new kitchen, Mrs Meecham was given a token to appreciation for her efforts and was delighted with the flowers and vouchers presented to her on the day.
"It’s everything our tenants have voted for. It’s really good to have Mulalley on board. We’re going to go from strength to strength. It’s something the tenants have asked for.
It’s not about people who have shouted loudest. It’s what needs to be done, which is very important."
