As part of our community liaison initiatives, Mulalley is always pleased to support the good causes of our partners. The recent Newco Employment and Training organisation’s visit to our Little Ilford site in September was a very good example of this.
Newco (who provide our kitchens for our decent homes scheme for Newham Homes) help unemployed disabled people gain work skills and qualifications. Their aim is to focus on the individual and what they ‘can’ do rather than what they ‘can’t’.
Instead of giving a basic construction instruction to Newco’s trainees we decided a visit to a working site would be more informative, and much more interesting!
After a safety induction and introductions to our team, the groups were given a tour including a visit in a hoist to the roof of a 14 storey block of flats to get a perspective of the whole site and the range of works being carried out.
The group then visited with local residents to view their new kitchens, before making its way back to the main office for a welcome buffet.
Tina Walters, Project Manager for Newco thanked everyone for their time and effort and how everyone really enjoyed their day, especially travelling in the hoist!
