Training
Mulalley and Company realise that the training of
its employees to undertake their tasks is the key to the safe
operation of its works. As part of this process the Company has
sought and attained Investor in People status to assist in this
provision.
The Directors of Mulalley and Company expend many
tens of thousands of pounds each year on its training budget and
provided over 700 training days to its employees.
We have a fully
established Staff Review system followed up by a Training Plan and
offer a range of training both at our Head Office (we have a 100m2
training suite within our Woodford Green Head Office) and also out
on site. We use the CITB and other established and qualified
training organisations to supplement our training process as well
as undertaking our own “in house” courses.
All training is monitored and recorded through our
training matrix.
Local Employment
In nearly 40 years of trading Mulalley and
Company have undertaken a large number of Construction and
Regeneration Schemes and as a result of this, the Directors have
seen and appreciate that regeneration is not just a matter of
bricks and mortar, it is also one of individuals and communities.
Our Resident Liaison approach has been designed to
actively involve the community in our works and an important part
of this is our policy to co-operate with and actively promote
local businesses and to support any local training and recruitment
initiatives. We also seek to recruit (and encourage our sub
partners, suppliers and sub-traders to similarly recruit) from the
local population. Such a policy is efficient, it is good sense and
it is good business.
Should the client be a supporter of any
specific local employment initiative we are delighted to work
closely with them. These agencies have worked with us to
identify individuals who require support and training
opportunities from not only, the project residents but also other
local residents or businesses who are part of these communities.
Primarily our role has been to provide productive and
practical employment or on site training for these individuals and
introduce them to the discipline of regular work whilst at the
same time encouraging their efforts and ensuring they feel they
were progressing in a worthwhile career. Following completion of our regeneration projects we have
taken on several of these workers in permanent employment including
Electrical and Mechanical service engineers as well as basic
building tradesmen.
We also provided opportunities for labourers from
these communities to progress as improvers on projects.
