Senior Electrical Building Services Design Engineer
The Role
- Responsible for the design of electrical services for design and build contracts, in accordance with all current industry recognised design guides, IET, British Standards and Building Regulations etc.
- Assist project staff in providing general design input, as required, to all RIBA work stages
- Work efficiently with the in-house Architectural Design Department and external design teams accordingly
- Attend design team meetings and project sites as necessary
- Advise on cost effectiveness of alternative design methods/product specifications
- Produce drawings and specification packages based on Employer’s Requirements
- Manage design output to agreed programmes
- Instigate, where possible, standard design solutions
Experience/Requirements
- Minimum accredited degree qualified
- Professional qualifications and/or institute membership desirable
- Significant professional background in Electrical Building Services (with stable employment with the same company/group for three or more years).
- Substantial experience of new build residential projects, including PV and UPS systems
- Excellent appreciation of other design disciplines
- Thorough understanding of electrical design, lighting, fire alarms and access control
- Good technical and interpersonal skills
- Capable or working with minimal supervision
- Must be a team player
