Mulalley recently attended and provided the refreshments for an official opening event for new homes built on Parkhurst Road in Islington. Mulalley transformed a row of rundown undercroft garages into 18 new homes for Islington residents to rent and buy. As part of the new development the Williamson Street Estate benefited from new security doors, new lifts, more green space and a refurbished and extended community centre.
Residents from the estate were given priority to rent the new homes and people living and working in Islington were given the first opportunity to purchase the shared-ownership and market sale units. The new apartments have high quality insulation and ventilation that will provide residents with economic heating costs.
Councillor James Murray, Islington Council’s executive member for housing and development said: “People in Islington desperately need more affordable housing. These new council homes will give local families a genuinely affordable place to live.”
Kelly Stevens, who will be moving into one of the new council homes said: “I’m very excited to be offered one of these new properties – it’s the best Christmas present ever!”
Mulalley Operations Director Bruce Benson said: “It was great to meet local residents who have benefited from this development at the official opening event. This project demonstrates the innovative ways we are helping to create new homes in Islington which is the most densely populated borough in the UK.”
