Mulalley, along with their project team, Peter Barber Architects and the London Borough of Newham were delighted to win at the 2019 London Regional LABC Building Excellence Awards. They were awarded ‘Best Social or Affordable New Housing Development’ for McGrath Road in Newham. Following on from this regional success, McGrath Road has also qualified as a finalist for the LABC Grand Finals 2019 in November in London.
Mulalley was appointed by the London Borough of Newham to provide 26 new residential homes. The Peter Barber Architect designed scheme features complex traditional brick built houses and highlights large key feature arches.
The LABC Building Excellence Awards are a prestigious annual event, celebrating the essence of good buildings using technical excellence, innovation, green and sustainable building quality, good team working, high performance and problem solving.
Paul Everall CBE, Chief Executive at LABC said: “These awards are different. They aren’t about good looks or fancy design (although many winners incorporate both). They are about quality and standards. No other building awards look at how well buildings are put together from start to finish and the skills and competencies of those who design and construct them. We are very proud of everyone involved – they show the way ahead for the industry.”
John Moore, Mulalley Operations Director said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have won this prestigious award. This success is good recognition of our work with Peter Barber Architects and the London Borough of Newham and we are proud to have provided these beautiful, and much needed homes to the area.”
