We are delighted to announce that two of Mulalley's new build developments have won prestigious RIBA Awards for 2021. RIBA has been celebrating outstanding work for over 180 years and their awards and prizes are regarded internationally as a mark of excellence, recognising the best architecture, architects, research and students.

North Street, a development of fourteen new homes designed by Peter Barber Architects for Be First, won a RIBA London Award 2021 and a RIBA National Award 2021. The judges commented that: "If the construction materials of brick and timber are conventional, the details are not. A playful use of outsized brick arches and variety in fenestration shows that social housing need not compromise on good design. The light and airy internal rooms are generous and full of delight for the occupants, as are the barrel-vaulted bedroom ceilings, which also reduce the impact of the roofline on neighbouring properties. This neat island of houses stands out as a gem among its neighbours."

McGrath Road, already a 2019 winner of the LABC Building Excellence Awards 'Best Social or Affordable New Housing Development’, now has a 2021 RIBA London Award added to its trophy cabinet. McGrath Road is a development of twenty-six individual three and four-storey dual-aspect townhouses and was designed by Peter Barber Architects for the London Borough of Newham. The judges commented that: "Not only should the project be commended, but we also hope it will be used as a useful precedent that will be adopted in London and, indeed, throughout the United Kingdom."
