Mulalley supports Newlon Resident Hardship and Tenant Emergency Fund

Mulalley are currently constructing 54 new homes for Newlon Housing Trust at Monument Way. As part of our continued commitment to CSR and our desire to give back to the communities in which we are working, we are proud to support the Newlon Resident Hardship and Tenant Emergency Fund.

This worthy cause seeks to help residents impacted by the Coronavirus pandemic, particularly those in precarious employment or who are vulnerable. These residents may have come from temporary or bed and breakfast accommodation, where they have no furniture of their own, or they may be leaving care or supported housing and taking on their first independent tenancy. For these residents, having emergency funding for food or utilities, or essential items for their new home means they are able to live in comfort without having to resort to loans or high cost ‘rent-to-own’ retailers.

Mulalley’s generous donation to the Hardship Fund will come into use as of April 2022.

John Moore, Managing Director for New Build Division at Mulalley said: “There are so many families and vulnerable people struggling that we felt we need to work together to support as many people as we can. The Hardship Fund will help several Newlon residents, those in financial difficulty and we hope that this contribution takes the strain off families in that situation”.

In previous years, the Hardship fund has supported hundreds of vulnerable families and with the distribution of hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of funding.

Graham Watts, Head of Resident Services explains that: “Living without essential household items like a cooker, washing machine or fridge is an ongoing daily struggle for vulnerable Newlon households. The generosity and support of donors such as Mulalley is a key part of our approach to helping to stabilise these families and individuals and to improve their quality of life”.
